When we are celebrating 400 years of Dhaka City, River Buriganga is fighting to survive. Today, it is nearly dead, can’t run on its natural way. It seems that people of Dhaka are killing the river for their insensitivity.
In Dhaka, people are growing day by day. Working places and various factories are booming constantly. Buriganga River is the one of the most popular way to communicate with another part of the country.
Tannery chemical, Mans wastage of whole Dhaka City and Industrial Wastage chemicals directly go down in Buriganga River. Nearly 700 brickfields on the riverside, dockyards are the causes of pollution.
This 41 km long river once blessed us with hope and dream to build a new city. But today, the city itself is a cause for the death of Buriganga. We, the Citizens of Dhaka are going to destroy our own river.
Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh is one of the firstly growing cities in the world. Almost 20 million people live here and thousands of more come everyday for their livelihoods. Dhaka is expanding day by day and now it’s five times bigger than 15 years back. I’m growing with this unplanned concrete jungle. I believe, I can feel and explore the city with camera better than others.
For gentrification, Dhaka is rapidly changing its landscapes in every possible angle. Many people and companies are investing here for their home and industrial proposes as like Garments, IT, Chemicals, Shipyard, Leather, real state and so on.
I always try to focus on environmental issues. We, the people of this city are not concern about environment. So, the environmental devastation becomes biggest problems for us.
There is no any remarkable document of my city. Hope this will make my dream in real.
